How Can You Take Care of Your Oral Health Between Appointments?

There are a few simple steps you can follow at home to make sure you’re maintaining good oral hygiene:

  • Brush twice daily – Use a toothbrush with soft bristles to avoid damaging your teeth. Maintain a 45 degree angle while gently brushing back and forth.
  • Floss daily – Avoid snapping floss down between your teeth. Contour gently around your tooth, and gently slide up and down, reaching just below the gum line. We have a variety of dental floss holders and cleaning devices available at Wyndham Dental for you to choose from if you’re having trouble flossing!
  • Eat a balanced diet – Limit your sugary foods. Foods with more fibre and less fat, like cereal, fruits, leafy greens and sugar-free yoghurt are ideal. Rinse out your mouth with fluoride mouthwash after meals to help kill germs and strengthen your teeth.
  • Schedule professional cleanings – The usual time period between appointments is 6 months. Be sure to schedule a regular appointment with our oral hygienist so you can better look after your dental health.
